The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has banned the general public from visiting their offices Nationwide in a bid to contain the spread of the deadly pandemic disease corona virus (COVID-19). The council stated that visitors are not allowed into their offices nationwide and they went further to reveal that some of their staff have been placed on duties to accommodate the registering of candidates for the WASSCE for school candidates 2020.

In the light of the global Corona Virus pandemic (COVID-19). The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), Nigeria has followed international protocols, including the recommended health and safety measures by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for the social distancing and keeping the work environment safe for staff and stakeholders.
In addition to steps already taken, the council has decided to take the following extra measures to forestall the spread of the disease:
Visitors will not be allowed into the councils offices Nationwide, beginning from tomorrow, March 24,2020. The general public is advised to take advantage of the available online channels for enquiries, etc.
Some staff have been placed on essential duties to accommodate Schools registering Candidates for the WASSCE for school Candidates, 2020.
We, in the West Africa Examination Council, deeply appreciate the efforts being made available by the government at various levels to contain the pandemic.
